Law Uk Folk Museum - Ancient Village House

This museum is a house museum that located in a preserved Hakka village house.
The history of the house can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty, when this place was still a Hakka village.

Also, this house is a good example of traditional Hakka village house architecture.
The interior of the house is symmetrically arranged around the main hall.
On the sides, there are bedroom, lofts and working area.
In front of the main hall, there is a light well.
Kitchen and store room are located on the both sides of the well.

In order to enhance the understanding of visitors about the living of original inhabitants, the house is furnished with furniture and farming tools.
In the open ground of the museum, there are also some exhibition panels.
These exhibition panels display some information about the history of Hakka village and the museum.

This museum is called "Law Uk Folk Museum".
Law Uk means "Law's House".
It is named after its original owner, a Hakka family whose Chinese surname is transliterated as "Law".
In 1989, Law Uk was declared as a historical monument in Hong Kong.

By the way, admission to the museum is free of charge.
It is open to public from 10:00am to 6:00pm, on all the days, but closed on Thursdays.
Admission is free.

To get there, take MTR to Chai Wa MTR Station and leave at Exit B.
Then, walk along Kut Shing Street to get to the museum for about 5 minutes.
