Shing Wong Temple - God of Order Maintenance

Built in 1877, this temple was originally a place that local residents go to pray for blessings.
Over the years, it had undergone many renovations.
Until 1974, an organization, called "Chinese Temples Committee", carried out an expansion project of this temple.
After the expansion, some new outer walls were added in the outlying area of the temple.
At the same time, the name of the temple was also officially changed.

The original name of this temple was called "Fook Tak Chi".
It is a place that local residents come to pray for good fortune.
After the expansion project completed, it was renamed as "Shing Wong Temple".

Shing Wong is the main deity of this temple and he is the God of Order Maintenance.
His work is to manage the ghosts and spirits in the district under his charge and to maintain peace and order in both the nether and living worlds.

Apart from Shing Wong, two other deities are enshrined in the temple.
One is called "To Tei Kung" and the other one is called "Ng Tung".
To Tei Kung is the God of Earth and is responsible for protecting the local residents, while Ng Tung is in charge of wealth and fortune.

To get to the temple, take MTR to Shau Kei Wan Station and get out at Exit B1.
Then, walk along Shau Kei Wan Main Street East to Kam Wa Street for about 5 minutes.
