Cape D'Aguilar Lighthouse - White Tower

This white tower is actually a lighthouse.
It was lit up to help vessels navigate in 1875 and it was the first lighthouse in Hong Kong.

The lighthouse is a round stone tower with 9.7 meters high and white in color.
Its arched doorway and spiral staircase are of fine stonework.

The lighthouse was shut down in 1896.
Because of its historical significance, it was one of the declared monuments of Hong Kong.

Nowadays, the lighthouse is being managed by the Hong Kong Marine Department.
For security reasons, the interior of the lighthouse is not open to public for visit.

The lighthouse is called "Cape D'Aguilar Lighthouse".
It is also known as "Hok Tsui Beacon".

To get there, you can take the MTR to the Shau Kei Wan MTR Station and leave at Exit A3.
Then, take bus No.9 at Shau Kei Wan Bus Terminus and get off at Cape D'Aguilar Bus Stop.

Afterwards, walk along Cape D'Aguilar Road to Cape D'Aguilar Submarine Cable Station.
The lighthouse is near the cable station.
