Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens - One of the Oldest Zoological and Botanical Parks in the World

Built in the Victorian Era, this garden is one of the oldest zoological and botanical parks in the world.
It is located at the Mid-Levels, on the northern slope of Victoria Peak in Hong Kong.
Founded in 1871 as a botanic garden, in order to reflect the increased number of zoological exhibits in the park, it was renamed as "Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens" in 1975.

This garden is divided into two parts and is linked by an underground tunnel.
The eastern part of the garden is known as "old garden" where a children's playground, aviaries, green house and a fountain terrace garden are found.
The new garden in the west is mainly the home of mammals and reptiles.

There are over 1000 species of plants in the gardens, mostly indigenous to tropical and sub-tropical regions.
Apart from the plants, there are over 500 birds and animals, including orangutans, lemurs, pythons and flamingos.

Unlike many other zoos of the world, entry to this one is free of charge.

To reach this place, exit off Admiralty MTR Station Exit B.
Then, walk along Garden Road to go uphill and get to the garden for about 20 minutes.
