Stanley Main Beach - Water Sports in the Beach

This beach is a popular location for water sports, such as surfing, wind surfing, kayaking and swimming.
At every weekends and holidays, the beach is crowded by tourists, expats and locals.

The beach itself is well equipped and facilitated with lifeguards, washrooms and changing rooms.
It is also outfitted with shark nets for safe swimming.

This beach is also the site of the annual dragon boat championships.
This event is held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival.
The Dragon Boat Festival is often known as "Tuen Ng Festival" or "Duanwu Festival".
It is a traditional holiday that commemorates the life and death of the famous Chinese scholar, called "Qu Yuan".

As this beach is a little bit crowded, it is not an ideal place if you want a little peace and serenity.

To get there, you can take the MTR to the Hong Kong MTR Station and leave at Exit D.
Then, take bus No.6, 6A, 6X, 66 or 260 at Exchange Square Bus Terminus and get off at Stanley Village Bus Stop.
Alternatively, you can take the MTR to the Causeway Bay MTR Station and leave at Exit F1.
Then, take Green Minibus No.40 at Jardine's Bazaar and get off at Stanley Main Beach.
Afterwards, walk along Stanley Beach Road to the beach.
