Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery - Ubiquitous Buddha Statues

Built in about 1950s, this monastery is an impressive monastery, which is composed of one main hall, a nine-storey pagoda, and several shrines and pavilions.
It is located in a bamboo forest on hillside and can only be reached by a steep paved path.

The paved path is flanked on both sides with dozens of golden Buddha statues.
Each of the Buddha statues is different and each of their poses depicts the different aspects of daily life.
At the end of the path, there is the forecourt and the main hall, where visitors will see many large and colorful statues of Buddhist deities and animals.

In this monastery, visitors will see Buddha statues everywhere.
There are actually over ten thousands of Buddha statues throughout the monastery.
Besides, the nine-storey pagoda at the opposite end of the forecourt is also surrounded by Buddha statues.
This pagoda can be climbed by an internal spiral staircase.
At the top, visitors will be rewarded with some spectacular views over the New Territories.

In this monastery, there is also a vegetarian canteen, serving vegetarian dishes for visitors or worshippers.
The vegetarian dishes here are also delicious and it is worth to try some.

This monastery is called "Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery".

To get to this monastery, you can take the MTR to the Sha Tin MTR Station and leave at Exit B.
Then, follow the signposts and walk along Pai Tau Street to get to Sha Tin Government Offices.
Turn right at Sheung Wo Che Road which runs between the Sha Tin Government Offices and the Grand Central Plaza.
Walk to the end of Sheung Wo Che Road and look to your left behind the Sha Tin Government Offices, there is a path.

Just follow this path and within a minute, you will see a steep paved path that leads you up the hill for the monastery.
