Hong Kong Heritage Museum - History of Cantonese Opera

This museum is a place for history, art and cultural exhibition.
There are six different halls inside the museum where visitors can learn the evolution story of Hong Kong history, the Cantonese opera history and the Chinese art.

Especially the Cantonese opera heritage hall, it is worth a visit.
In the exhibition hall, the exhibits demonstrate the process of setting up the the stages and theaters, and also provides information about costumes, characters and make up.

Cantonese opera is a composite performance art that usually interprets the story of historic icon, such as hero and emperor.
These historic icons are either good or evil those are clearly expressed on their clothing and make up.

The museum is open from 10:00am to 6:00pm, from Mondays to Fridays.
On Saturdays, Sundays and the Public Holidays, it is open from 10:00am to 7:00pm.
It is closed on Tuesdays, except Public Holidays.
Admission is free.

To reach this museum, exit off Che Kung Temple MTR Station Exit A.
Then, walk towards the direction of Shing Mun River for about 5 minutes.
The museum is located near the river.
