Antique Street - Street Museum

This street is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hong Kong.
It is a great place to look and shop around especially if you are looking for antiques, Chinese memorabilia and knick-knacks.

This street was built more than hundred years ago and it was one of the oldest streets in Hong Kong.
In the past, this street was close to the coastline.
It was once a market where the foreign merchants, sailors and adventurers tried to sell antiques and artifacts they got from China before their way back to Europe.
The market got its name by this reason and became one of the famous street markets in Hong Kong.

Nowadays, the street market is fully packed with antiques shops and art galleries.
Strolling along the street market is more like walking in a museum or an art gallery than shopping on a street.
Even if you are not searching for antiques, some shops also focus on special souvenirs which are affordable for everyone.

In the street market, there are not only authentic antiques, but fake handicrafts.
So, visitors are recommended to have basic knowledge to differentiate the real and fake.

Most of the shops are closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
Therefore, the best time to visit is on Saturdays.
On Saturdays, the street market is usually quite busy and there are often traffic jams nearby.
So, it is recommended to avoid taking taxi and enjoy the street market by walking through it.

To reach this place, exit off Sheung Wan MTR Station Exit A2.
Then, walk along Hillier Street to Queen's Road Central.
Turn right at Queen's Road Central and walk to Ladder Street.
Then, walk along Ladder Street to Hollywood Road.
