Kat Hing Wai Walled Village - Family Stronghold

Established during the reign of Chenghua of the Ming Dynasty, this village is one of the ancient villages in Hong Kong.
It is a rectangular-shaped village, which is surrounded by high brick walls and cannon towers.
Being a family stronghold, these protective architectures are the essential components for warding off enemies, such as bandits, rivals, wild tigers and etc.

Nowadays, this village is still completely surrounded by the high brick walls and the cannon towers.
Outside the village, it is the remains of moat.

In this village, there is only one narrow entrance.
After passing through the narrow entrance, visitors will see some alleyways, some brick houses and an ancestral hall.

To get to this village, take the MTR to the Kam Sheung Road MTR Station and leave at Exit B.
Then, walk across the footbridge to Kam Sheung Road.
At Kam Sheung Road, turn left and walk to Kam Tin Road.
Then, turn right and walk along Kam Tin Road to Kat Hing Wai Walled Village.
The whole journey takes about 25 minutes walk.
