Golden Bauhinia Square - A golden Bauhinia sculpture. A famous Hong Kong landmark.

In the square next to the "Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre" stands a large golden sculpture. With a total height of about six meters, this large sculpture looks like a Bauhinia flower blooming brilliantly on granite. Today, HongKongFootprint.com will take you here for a tour.

The golden Bauhinia sculpture is called "The Forever Blooming Bauhinia Sculpture", and the Bauhinia flower in it just represents Hong Kong, which means Hong Kong is prosperous, and its economy is booming and prosperous. Since this large-scale sculpture is placed in the center of the square, the square is also named "Golden Bauhinia Square".

"Golden Bauhinia Square" has a profound symbolic meaning for Hong Kong, because it was the place where the Hong Kong Handover Ceremony was held that year. In 1997, the United Kingdom returned Hong Kong to China, officially ending more than a hundred years of colonial rule.

In the "Golden Bauhinia Square", a flag-raising ceremony is held every day, and uniformed police officers are responsible for hoisting the national flag and the regional flag. The flag is raised at 8:00 am and lowered at 6:00 pm every day. The flag raising ceremony is subject to change depending on the weather, and the flag raising ceremony will be cancelled if the weather is bad.

On the first day of each month, the flag-raising ceremony will be more solemn than usual. In addition to the police officers in full uniforms and the gun team equipped with long guns to preside over the flag-raising ceremony, a band composed of police officers will also perform a performance for about ten minutes after the ceremony. The atmosphere is solemn and the performance is also very attractive.

In order to relive the historical moment of Hong Kong's return to China, many visitors will like to visit or take pictures at the "Golden Bauhinia Square". In addition, the seaside promenade next to the square is also a good sightseeing spot. Visitors can come here and enjoy the beautiful views on both sides of Victoria Harbour.

If you want to come here, it is recommended to take the MTR to Wan Chai Station and leave at Exit A5. Afterwards, go to the Central Plaza via the pedestrian bridge of the O'brien Road, and then go to the Conventional Plaza Shopping Arcade via the Central Plaza, and then you can come to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This square is right next to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
