Hong Kong Museum of History - Hong Kong History within Different Eras

This museum is very large and its collections are very rich.
The museum preserves and displays the 6000 years history of Hong Kong, starting from the Neolithic age to the post-war period.

There are multiple sections inside the museum.
Every section recreates different eras of Hong Kong history and decorated with life size exhibits, including forest, temple, street, buildings and etc.
Through watching the different sections, visitors can know more about the transformation story of Hong Kong.

In the museum, most of the exhibits are realistic and interesting.
The sections start at "Prehistoric Hong Kong", and then "The Natural Environment" and "The Dynasties: From the Han to the Qing".
These sections display the artifacts of pottery, stone tools and a Han tomb that are indigenous to Hong Kong.

The next section is called "The Opium Wars and the Cession of Hong Kong".
It shows and demonstrates the history of Hong Kong ceded to the Britain.

The sections "Birth and Early Growth of the City" and "Modern Metropolis and Return to China" are the most beautiful sections of the museum.
These sections recreated the old Hong Kong streets and buildings for the viewing.

The museum is open from 10:00am to 6:00pm from Mondays to Fridays.
On Saturdays, Sundays and the Public Holidays, it is open from 10:00am to 7:00pm.
It is closed on Tuesdays, except Public Holidays.
Admission is free.

To reach this museum, exit off Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station Exit P2.
Then, walk along Chatham Road to get to the museum for about 15 minutes.
